🗣️ Technical Cards Exhibition and Group Review

Time: 45–60 minutes

Goal: Prepare your work, share your three technical GIFs, listen to the presentations of others, participate in the discussion, and complete a short reflection.

Use the Technical Cards Exhibition Handout throughout this activity.

Complete this activity after:

1. Prepare for the exhibition Check your three GIFs and use the handout to prepare what you will share.

Bring these completed files:

Name-Lastname-Day-1-Review/
├── Name-Lastname-Aperture.gif
├── Name-Lastname-ISO.gif
└── Name-Lastname-WhiteBalance.gif

Each participant will have approximately 3-4 minutes.

Present the GIFs in this order:

1. Aperture GIF
2. ISO GIF
3. White Balance GIF

For each GIF, briefly explain:

  • What setting changed
  • What remained unchanged
  • What visual change you observed

Finish by sharing:

  • One result, problem, or discovery
  • One compositional decision that worked well
  • One change you would make in a future photograph

Write down your responses to help you while presenting.

2. Listen and participate Observe the technical and compositional decisions made by others and contribute specific, respectful feedback.

During the exhibition:

  1. Listen while each participant presents.
  2. Observe the technical and compositional changes in all cards/gifs.
  3. Complete the audience section of the handout.
  4. Record at least one specific observation from another participant’s work.
  5. Contribute at least one question or comment during the discussion.

Useful comments include:

  • “The change in background sharpness is clearest between these two apertures.”
  • “Digital noise becomes more visible in the shadowed area.”
  • “The Tungsten setting creates the strongest blue colour cast.”
  • “The framing remains consistent throughout the GIF.”
  • “The shallow depth of field helps separate the subject from the background.”

Avoid vague comments such as:

“It looks good.”

Instead, identify the specific technical or compositional choice that worked.

3. Reflection Share what you learned from Day 1.

Day 1 reflection questions

  1. Which camera setting do you understand more clearly after today’s activities?

  2. What was the most noticeable difference in your Aperture, ISO, or White Balance GIF?

  3. Which technical result surprised you, and why?

  4. What compositional choice worked well in your photographs?

  5. What problem did you encounter, and how did you respond?

  6. What did you notice in another participant’s work that you may apply to your own photography?

  7. What would you change if you repeated one of the technical comparisons?

  8. What will you pay closer attention to during the next photography activity?
