π OBJECT PLAY II: Build Your Abstract Sculpture or Creature in Blender
Time: 50 minutes
Goal: Translate the sketch you created in Object Play I into a 3D sculpture or creature using Blender primitives and the tools covered today.
βοΈ Review Your Sketch
Before you begin modelling, look closely at the sketch you created in π Object Play I: Sketch an Abstract Sculpture or Creature
Identify:
- The main primitive shapes in your design
- Which shape you will build first
- How the shapes connect, overlap, or repeat
- Which parts need to be moved, rotated, or scaled
- Whether your sculpture or creature will stand, float, balance, or lean
Keep your sketch beside you while you work. You may change your design as you experiment in Blender, but try to preserve its main mood, story, or purpose.
𧱠Start Building in Blender
Use only the tools from todayβs lessons:
You can:
- Add, delete, and combine basic geometric primitives
- Move, rotate, and scale objects
- Apply modifiers: Subdivision Surface, Mirror, Boolean, Solidify, and Array
Begin with the largest or most important shape, then add the smaller parts.
β Save your work often!
- Go to Top Menu β File β Save (your file will be saved as .blend)
- File name format: YourName_Monday.blend
π Reflection
Answer these questions on a piece of paper:
- What changed when you translated your paper sketch into a 3D model?
- Which parts of your original design were easy to recreate in Blender?
- Which parts were difficult or not possible to build with the tools you learned today?
- What did you simplify, remove, or redesign during the modelling process?
- What would you change if you continued working on the design?
