👾 Character Modeling Session 2: Final Touches & Scene Integration

Overview
In this session, you’ll finalize your 3D character, export it as a .obj file with materials, and import it into your environment scene. You’ll make sure it fits the space in scale, position, and style, and begin applying materials and lighting for a unified look.
⚠️ Don’t forget to press Ctrl + S regularly to save your progress.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Character Prep Instructions
Open the Blender file where you modeled your character.
Add final features and details.
⚠️ Wait before adding materials — we’ll do that later.
Press Ctrl + S to save any new changes you made before proceeding.
Delete these default objects:
Select the Light and press X to delete.
Select the Camera and press X to delete.
Delete any other unnecessary objects.
Select and Join your character:
Press A to select all objects.
Press Ctrl + J to join everything into one object.
đź’ľ Save your character file again using Save As!
Go to File → Save As
Name it: YourName_Final_Character.blend
Export your character as OBJ
File → Export → Wavefront (.obj)
Save as: YourName_Character.obj
Place Your Character in the Scene
⚠️ Don’t forget to press Ctrl + S regularly to save your progress.
1. Open Your Scene File
Go to File → Open and select YourName_SceneModel.blend
2. Import Your Character
Go to File → Import → Wavefront (.obj)
Locate and import your exported .obj file
3. Scale Proportionally and Position Your Character
đź’ˇ Tip: Your character should match the size of the space
(e.g., not taller than a wall or smaller than a bench)
4. Add Materials and Textures
Select your character and go to the Material Properties tab
Create and assign materials for skin, metal, clothing…
5. Optional – Add Hair or Fur
Use the Particle System → Hair
Tweak hair length, density, and shape for basic stylized hair
6. Add or Reposition Lights
Use Shift + A → Light to add:
Area Light for soft shadows
Point Light for localized brightness
Sun Light for global directional light
Use G to move the light
Adjust intensity and color in the Light Properties tab
7. Save Your Scene
File → Save As
Name it: YourName_SceneWithCharacter.blend
